I have early memories growing up as a child in Switzerland, sitting in my dad's allotment tending to my own little patch of carrots. At 19 I moved to England and living mostly in flats, appart from the odd herb, I never got round to growing anything.
But since moving to our current home a few years ago in Spain, we were lucky enough to find a house to rent in the countryside with plenty of space to grow our own and even luckier to be surrounded by already excisting trees of oranges, lemons, avocadoes, pears, grapefruit, persimmon, olives, figs and a grape vine.
More interested in spending time in the kitchen rather than the garden, I decided to grow vegetables and herbs in big pots this year and create my own little edible lady garden. Low maintenance and surprisingly successful! Chillies, cherry tomatoes, strawberries, aubergines, sweetcorn, peppers, radishes, rucola salad, tons of herbs and even my broccoli and cauliflower made it.
